Bob W, an international hospitality brand, has launched its first Swedish apartment hotel in Stockholm's Norrmalm district. This establishment is situated within a revitalized building from 1965, offering fully equipped studios with kitchen facilities that cater to both short and extended stays. Note Design Studio's co-founders, Johannes Karlström and Jesper Mellgren, spearheaded the interior design, skillfully weaving together the building's original 1960s architectural elements with the vibrant contemporary essence of Stockholm, drawing inspiration from the area's lively culinary scene and urban dynamism.
A core principle of this project was the commitment to sustainability and economic efficiency, leading Note to preserve much of the building's original structure and intervene only when absolutely essential. The design narrative masterfully contrasts the severe brutalist exterior with an explosion of rich, colorful interiors. Guests are guided through monochromatic corridors into suites and communal areas that are enlivened by bespoke vintage furnishings and bold, distinctive details, making each space a unique reflection of Stockholm's ongoing evolution, characterized by thoughtful juxtaposition.
Bob W's distinctive approach, which integrates advanced technology, sophisticated local design, and a comfortable, home-like atmosphere, is brought to life through a smooth, entirely digital guest journey. Niko Karstikko, the co-founder and CEO, underscores the brand's dedication to authenticity, remarking that \"every element pays homage to the city's creative vibe,\" ensuring that visitors experience the true spirit of Stockholm with the convenience of a fully digital service model. This Stockholm project represents the initial venture in a series of collaborations between Note Design Studio and Bob W, with their next endeavor focusing on converting a 7,500 square-meter former police station in Copenhagen's Meatpacking District into a 169-room flagship apartment hotel, slated for completion in October 2027.
This innovative venture exemplifies how thoughtful design and a commitment to authenticity can transform urban spaces, providing guests with not just a place to stay, but an immersive cultural experience that contributes positively to the city's identity. The collaboration between Bob W and Note Design Studio showcases a forward-thinking approach to hospitality, blending historical preservation with modern convenience and sustainable practices to create welcoming and vibrant environments for travelers.
