FDA Issues Warning on Salmonella-Contaminated Greens Powders
On November 13, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) alerted the public to a significant Salmonella outbreak connected to various greens powder products. These items were distributed through numerous channels, including Sam’s Club stores nationwide and prominent online retailers such as Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Target, and Walmart. The recall specifically targets products from 'Food To Live Organic Moringa Leaf Powder' and 'Food To Live Organic Supergreens Powder Mix' with lot codes “SO-69006” through “SO-72558.” Additionally, 'Organic Moringa Leaf Powder' sold on africaimports.com after June 5, and all 'Member’s Mark Super Greens' dietary supplement powders, irrespective of their lot codes or best-by dates, are included in the recall. To date, 11 individuals have reported illnesses, and three have required hospitalization across states including Florida, Kansas, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Consumers are strongly urged to discard any recalled products or return them to the point of purchase for a full refund. Symptoms of Salmonella infection, which can manifest between six hours and six days post-exposure, often include diarrhea, stomach cramps, headaches, nausea, and vomiting. Medical consultation is advised for anyone experiencing these symptoms after consuming greens powder.
